Advanced Training for Mental Health Professionals – Third Pilot Phase Successfully Completed

The pilot phase of the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Initiative’s (CAMHI) Advanced Training has been completed, marking an important step toward the development of scientifically grounded interventions in child and adolescent mental health.

During the pilot implementation, 55 families participated in one of three Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)–based interventions targeting anxiety, depression, and behavioral problems. The pilot phase involved 25 therapists, who were trained through a combination of asynchronous learning and synchronous group supervision online.

To date, 44 mental health professionals from hospital and community settings have actively participated across CAMHI’s five Hub Centers: Alexandroupoli, Ioannina, Heraklion, Athens, and Thessaloniki.

Overall Results

  • 118 families have already received services
  • Three complete clinical CBT protocols have been developed for anxiety, depression, and behavioral problems
  • Training materials include a therapist manual, a child/adolescent workbook, and a parent workbook

Evaluation and Improvements

Early results are highly encouraging:

  • High satisfaction rates among families
  • Significant reduction in clinical symptoms among children and adolescents
  • Protocols have been refined based on therapist feedback and measurements to enhance effectiveness

The results from the three pilot phases show a clear reduction in clinical symptoms, confirming that the interventions significantly strengthen the capacity of mental health professionals working with children and adolescents in public and community centers nationwide.

Next Steps

The training program will be expanded nationwide, offered in both hospital and community mental health settings, through asynchronous and synchronous formats.

More information will soon be announced on this website (camhi.gr).
