The CAMHI Initiative, at SNF NOSTOS 2023

With a discussion entitled "Listening to stakeholders to create sustainable change for children and adolescents: The CAMHI experience in Greece” we are proudly participating this year in the annual open event of the summer of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), SNF Nostos 2023 dedicated this year to Mental Health. The discussion, which is part of SNF Nostos Conference, will take place on Thursday, June 22, at 09:20, at the Stavros Niarchos Hall of the Greek National Opera at Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.

In the discussion, we aim to show the stages that led to the conception, design and implementation of the Child and Adolescents Mental Health Initiative. Furthermore, to demonstrate the importance of listening to and including the opinions not only of mental health professionals, but also of other stakeholders, such as parents/caregivers, teachers, children and adolescents, including minorities. This way, we will ensure that the Initiative's interventions actually respond to the needs of all its recipients.

Our speakers, the hub leaders of CAMHI in five Greek cities - Athens, Thessaloniki, Alexandroupolis, Ioannina and Crete - will talk about the new elements of the program and will refer to the Initiative’s potential to provide a replicable and sustainable model beyond borders. With the lessons learned from Greece, we aim to develop a program that will feed a global, humane approach to the mental health of children and adolescents.

As the event coincides with the publication of the Synthesis Report of the Landscape Analysis which we conducted to assess the needs and priorities regarding mental health care for children and adolescents in Greece, the speakers will outline its main conclusions and recommendations for improving the mental health care provided in our country.

The panel will include members of CAMHI’s Scientific Steering Committee (in alphabetical order):

Lilian Athanasopoulou

Maria Basta

Konstantinos Kotsis

Anastasia Koumoula

Giorgos Moschos

Aspasia Serdari

The session will be moderated by Giovanni Abrahão Salum, representing Child Mind Institute.
