First training courses for judiciaries completed

CAMHI was delighted to complete this week its first training sessions for students of the National School of the Judiciary conducted as part of the training of child and adolescent mental health professionals.
The training, which took place in Athens and Thessaloniki, lasted two days in each city (20 and 21/6 Athens, 25 and 26/6 Thessaloniki), and included a total of 79 students, covering the following topics:

  1. Child abuse - neglect and child protection
  2. Conflict divorce and custody issues
  3. Behavioral problems, rule-breaking, delinquency
  4. Child violence, bullying, cyberbullying
  5. Cooperation between mental health services and judicial officers.

The trainings were facilitated by CAMHI Director, Dr. Anastasia Koumoula, Efi Kapsimalli, CAMHI member, Lillian Athanasopoulou and Nikos Zilikis, head of the CAMHI hub centre in Thessaloniki.
The presentations were moderated by Irini Paraschou, a member of CAMHI in Thessaloniki.

At the end of the training, Ms Athanasopoulou said: "We had the opportunity to meet and talk with future judicial officers on issues of our common goal, which is the well-being of the child and the protection of the child's rights. Actions such as these trainings, which we intend to continue, facilitate the professional role of both parties, with the best interests of the child at the centre."

The Child & Adolescent Mental Health Initiative's training programme is implemented in collaboration with the Child Mind Institute, with the exclusive support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation ( SNF ). Like all of CAMHI's programmes, it is part of the SNF's Global Health Initiative (GHI).
