Validating Mental Health Screening Tools for Children and Adolescents in Greece

A new study by CAMHI, published in the Journal of Patient-Reported Outcomes, conducted the first-ever standardization of six internationally recognized mental health assessment tools for children and adolescents in the Greek population. The tools cover areas such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism spectrum, and exposure to traumatic events. The study was based on a sample of 1,756 parents and 1,201 children and adolescents from across Greece. The results confirmed the good to excellent psychometric properties of the tools, and normative reference tables by age and sex were developed — a gap that had not previously been addressed.

The state of mental health in Greece: An international comparative analysis using data from the Global Mental Health Countdown 2030

In this survey, we used data from the Global Mental Health Countdown 2030 framework, which brings together 48 indicators from 193 countries. Of these, we analyzed 39 indicators available for Greece to perform a comparative analysis with three groups of countries (27 European Union, 55 high-income, and 52 upper-middle income nations).

The mental health care system for children and adolescents in Greece: a review and structure assessment

This paper provides a broad review of the mental health care system for children and adolescents in Greece (historical data, legislation, organization, clinical practice, available resources, and challenges). It also presents in detail the Greek mental health system services for children and adolescents, as reflected in the mapping carried out by the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Initiative. Finally, some suggestions for improving this system are set out.

Experience of Service Questionnaire (ESQ) in children and adolescents: factor structure, reliability, validity, item parameters and interpretability of the parent version for practical use in Greece

Health systems need tools to assess patient’s experience of service, but existing tools lack reliability and validity assessment. Our aim in this paper was to investigate the factor structure, reliability, validity, item parameters, and interpretability of the parent version of the Experience of Service Questionnaire (ESQ) for practical use in Greece.

Cross-cultural adaptation and translation of 17 assessment instruments: freely accessible instruments

We made 17 internationally-employed assessment tools for child and adolescent mental health newly available in Greek, following a systematic cross-cultural adaptation and translation process.

Systematic review of the scientific literature: a scientific article

We conducted a systematic review of the current state of knowledge on child and adolescent mental health in Greece. This review involved collecting and evaluating data from hundreds of publications, encompassing 553 prevalence estimates, 261 assessment instruments, and 24 experimental interventions.

Nationwide Survey - scientific publication

To understand the needs and priorities in child and adolescent mental health, we conducted a nationwide survey in Greece. We gathered information from 1,756 caregivers, 1,201 children and adolescents, 404 schoolteachers, and 475 health professionals. The survey covered a range of topics, including mental health symptoms, needs, literacy and stigma, service use and access, professional practices, training background, and training needs and preferences.

Local needs assessment at the educational system: a report on findings

To understand the challenges faced by educators and their needs to support student mental health in the classroom, we visited 52 schools across five regions in Greece for a mixed-method assessment.
