A successful event in Thessaloniki for CAMHI

On World Mental Health Day on October 10, and in a packed hall, CAMHI presented its work for the first time in Thessaloniki, with an event open to the public on Saturday, October 19, in the Manolis Anagnostakis Hall of the Municipal Hall.

The event, entitled "Child & Adolescent Mental Health Initiative in Thessaloniki: What has been done so far, the Challenges and the Next Steps " was welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Health, Dim Vartzopoulos and the Deputy Governor of the 3rd Health Region (Macedonia), Michael Koupkas. Then, Dr. Anastasia Koumoula, Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist and CAMHI's Director, spoke about the challenges faced by children, adolescents, and their families in Greece, based on data that came to light through CAMHI's comprehensive field analysis, and talked about the next steps of the program.

The members of CAMHI's hub center in Thessaloniki, which is embedded in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry of the General Hospital "G. Papanikolaou" and the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Department of the Hippocrates General Hospital, presented other activities of the program.

The event, attended by many teachers, health professionals, parents, and citizens of Thessaloniki, ended with a fascinating discussion with the audience in which representatives of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) and the SNF’s Global Health Initiative (GHI) participated.

The Child & Adolescent Mental Health Initiative is a five-year programme that aims to improve the mental health of children and adolescents in Greece hrough improving access to quality care services and mental health literacy. It is implemented by a nationwide network of public agencies and mental health professionals, in collaboration with the Child Mind Institute in New York and with the exclusive support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation ( SNF ) under the SNF's Global Health Initiative ( GHI). It is developed on the basis of a partnership model with the Greek Public Sector and is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education & Religious Affairs, in accordance with the institutional framework described in Law 5015/2023.
