On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, an official meeting of cooperation between the Community Mental Health Centre of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Department at the General Hospital "G. Papanikolaou" and the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Initiative (CAMHI).

On the premises of the Community Center, Mr. Dionysios Manolopoulos, Hospital Manager, Mrs. Anastasia Koumoula, Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist and Director of CAMHI, as well as Mrs. Lillian Athanasopoulou, Coordinating Director of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Department of the Hospital and Co-manager of CAMHI's hub center in Thessaloniki.

The Community Mental Health Centre of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Department participates with its scientific staff in all the activities of CAMHI, such as the Basic Teacher Training Programme, the cooperation with school units for interventions in school settings, and the collaboration with adolescents, parents and teachers. It also participates in the advanced training program for mental health professionals (psychologists, child psychiatrists), as well as in the training of judicial officers and pediatricians.

The partnership with the Community Centre has already started since November 2023, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between CAMHI Implementing Agency and the Hospital Administration, under which the Community Centre officially joined CAMHI's Network.

The Network is an integral part of CAMHI and a central lever for its planning and implementation. It is composed of hub centers in Alexandroupolis, Thessaloniki, Ioannina, Athens and Heraklion, Crete, to ensure that the implementation of the program responds in the best possible way to the diverse and specific needs that exist in different regions of the country, including remote areas with more difficult access to services.

With the launch of this collaboration, another stone is being laid to ensure that our vision of every child, teenager, and family in Greece having access to quality mental health care and reliable sources of information becomes a reality.
